A 2019 Volkswagen Jetta review requires a bit of Volkswagen history first. When Volkswagen required a slightly different model to their wildly successful Volkswagen Golf, they unveiled the Volkswagen Jetta during the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany in 1979. Taking its moniker from the Atlantic jet stream, as many of the Volkswagen models being named after prominent winds and currents. The biggest change after the Jetta introduction was in 1985, when Volkswagen introduced the 2nd generation Jetta. The 85 Jetta was more aerodynamic and larger, which prompted the switch from a sub-compact to a compact car. This generation was made for 8 years, which is the longest generation to date.
